Share Percentage Calculator

Enter the total issued shares and the number held by one shareholder to calculate that shareholder’s percentage of issued shares.

This calculator performs a simple percentage calculation only. It does not determine beneficial ownership, control, voting rights, indirect ownership or AML/CTF obligations.

What this tool does

This calculator answers one arithmetic question: what percentage of a company’s issued shares does a shareholder hold? Enter the total number of issued shares and the number held by one shareholder. The tool divides shares held by total issued shares, multiplies by 100 and displays the percentage to two decimal places while retaining full precision for the underlying calculation.

You can bookmark, copy or print a result page that shows the same calculated message and educational caveat. The shareable URL only contains share quantities — never names, addresses, dates of birth or other personal customer information.

Who it is for

It is intended for Australian Tranche 2 businesses and advisers who need a quick, transparent percentage for simple direct shareholdings when reading a company extract, preparing an onboarding discussion or checking a single shareholder’s interest before deeper ownership analysis. Law firms, accountants, conveyancers and trust and company service providers often need this first step before deciding whether further tracing is required.

What it does not do

It does not determine beneficial ownership, control, voting rights, indirect ownership through other entities, joint holdings, options or convertible instruments. It does not assess AML/CTF obligations, apply ownership thresholds or reproduce Flagship AML’s full ownership workflow.

Complex structures, trusts and layered companies require a broader analysis than a single percentage. Treat this calculator as a first arithmetic step only, and document any further ownership work in accordance with your AML/CTF program.

General educational information only

Treat the output as a simple percentage calculation. For broader ownership and KYC context, see Flagship AML’s beneficial ownership and KYC articles on the Resources page, or explore identity verification pathways with the Identity Verification Pathway Explorer. Obtain legal or specialist compliance advice where appropriate for your circumstances and customer risk profile. Flagship AML provides software and general educational information; it does not provide legal advice and does not guarantee compliance outcomes for any engagement.
